How would you take this?
I work in a retail clothing store, and I am 15 weeks pregnant. I
‘ve already had a problem with my changing body and weight gain (i’ve gained 9 lbs already!). This last week, I’ve had to start unbuttoning my pants (i don’t want to buy Maternity Clothes yet) and I’ve been wearing loose “babydoll” tops. I didn’t think anyone could really notice my start of a stomach except MAYBE people that knew. Well, i had a random stranger come up to me and say, ” oh my gosh. when are you due?!” then when i gave her a weird “how-did-you-know?” look, she added, “you’re not showing much yet, but I can definitely tell”
that really hurt my feelings for some reason. Of course, I can’t wait to get a prego belly, but I know that right now it should be too early to tell. Maybe I should just relax but it’s so hard when I’ve already had a hard time with my changing body.
I think the hormones are already affecting your mood. IF she is a customer that has come in before, then a nine pound weight gain and the change in your clothes would be more apparent than to a perfect stranger. Just be glad she said “When are you due” instead of “OMG, when are you going to stop eating”.
